No matter where you are, what holiday it is, or what you are celebrating—you can set up a quick indoor or outdoor beautiful tablescape by using items you already have on hand. Below are a few tips for setting up a French Country themed tablescape—indoors or outdoors.
It’s difficult for me to visit a thrift store, estate sale, or garage sale without finding a piece of long-forgotten furniture to take home with me to transform. I even find myself searching through Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist hoping to find that one unique piece. I no longer look at an old dusty, beat up, scratched, or dinged piece of furniture the same way. Instead, envision something special ~ a piece I would take home and lovingly and meticulously transform into a one-of-a-kind beautiful piece of art.
I love a good estate sale or thrift store find. How about you? Take for instance this long-forgotten piece we found at an estate sale in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. The area boasts multi-million dollar homes. The buffet was being stored in the owner’s horse stables. It was in very rough shape when we found it–neglected for years, covered in dust, loose laminate on the top, back and front, knicks and dings, scratches, cobwebs, and partially broken bun feet on the bottom of two of the front legs.
Lost treasures!! When I was a little girl growing up in the ’60s, I remember my grandparents having a console cabinet similar to this one. You might even have one you inherited stored in your basement or garage gathering dust because it doesn’t go with your decor. If you do, this blog might inspire you to dust it off and transform it!
A few weeks ago Dixie Belle Paint Company saw my painted furniture pieces on social media and reached out to me because they were ‘so impressed’ with my work. They wanted to know if I would be interested in trying their paint and products. If so, they would send everything I needed to complete a project–FREE OF CHARGE–right down to the brushes. I just needed to let them know what products. If I chose to paint a piece they would feature it on their social media pages ~ Facebook (160,000 followers) or Instagram (30,000 followers). Well–of course I would!!
After we brought the side table home, it sat in our shop for several weeks while I completed other projects. Every day I would walk by her wondering to myself ‘What color should I paint her?’.
We were looking forward to nightfall because tonight the Queen Mary was offering its overnight guests a self-guided ghost tour—which meant we were free to roam down to the deepest, darkest, and most haunted innards of the Queen Mary. Just the words ‘self-guided’ made us giggle nervously with anticipation.
