As we quickly head toward summer I can’t help but think of enjoying brunch outdoors on beautiful Colorado mornings. Next month my husband and I will be hosting out of town family and friends to celebrate our niece’s 50th birthday. I am looking forward to spending many mornings, afternoons and evenings dining alfresco with everyone. I’ve always enjoyed hosting and have set many outdoor tables over the past 30 years for everything from a welcome to the family adoption party for our kids, to holidays, to birthdays, to bbq’s, to sendoffs to the U.S. Army. Each table setting I’ve put together is slightly different, but they all have similar elements … flowers, greenery, dinnerware, linens, and candles.

I love the look of layers and mixing old with new. It gives the table setting depth and character. Everything you see here for my French Country theme table setting I gathered from around my house – Lenox French Pearl Ice Blue place settings, French scalloped charger plates previously purchased from Pier 1, round blue and green place mats, French linen napkins, and mason jars for fresh squeezed orange juice.

I created the centerpiece by using an old clay pot and faux flower stems and greenery.

The outdoor water fountain adds the perfect ambience to this rustic setting.

The beauty of this outdoor table setting is that it’s setting on wood chips in the middle of my garden surrounded by evergreen trees, bushes, flowers, herbs and a water fountain. The rustic surroundings gives this setting a tranquil ambience.

I hope this blog has inspired you to get outdoors and create an impromptu table setting to enjoy with family and friends this summer. Here’s to making wonderful memories!
